Since the linked records field that connects the two table is set as read-only, the value will not be saved during the creation of the record. There are some workarounds options. You can do one of the following:
Turn off 'Read-only'.
Turn on 'Allow URL prefill'.
Remove the linked records field in the child form.
Create a lookup field instead and use it in the child form.
