How to have Users sign Documents

You can use our Integrate Airtable with eSignatures.io automation to send documents to your users to sign.

Our miniExtensions Form also has signature capabilities!

Setup

  1. Prepare an eSignatures.io template and note its template ID. In Airtable, prepare signer name and email fields, an editable text field for the contract ID, and an attachment field for signed documents.

  2. Create this automation and select the Airtable base and table you want to use.

  3. Add your eSignatures.io API key in Workspace settings, then select it under eSignatures.io API Key. Enter the eSignatures.io Template ID.

  4. Map Contract ID Field and Signed Documents Attachments Field to the fields that will receive the results. Map Signer Name Airtable Field and Signer Email Airtable Field to the signer’s details, and fill in both values on your test record.

  5. If your template uses additional Airtable values, select them under Custom Fields (Optional). The custom-field API keys in your eSignatures.io template must match the names of the selected Airtable fields.

  6. Leave Test mode enabled while setting up. Open Formula For Document To Sign URLs and use the generated formula in Airtable to create each record’s signing link.

  7. In the same Formula For Document To Sign URLs section, copy the webhook URL shown and set it as the API webhook URL in your eSignatures.io account. This is needed for signed-document updates to reach Airtable.

  8. Test the complete signing flow with a new test record and your own email address, and check the contract ID and signed-document output. For real contracts, use a paid miniExtensions plan, turn off Test mode, and test with a new record. The free plan uses test mode.

This integration sends documents through eSignatures.io. It is different from adding a simple drawn-signature field to a miniExtensions Form. Test-mode documents are marked as demonstration only. If a record already has a contract ID, its link reuses that contract; changing the settings does not create a new contract for that record.
