To automatically fill today's date (and time, if enabled for the field in Airtable) when a date field is empty:

Turn on Auto fill field to today by default when empty.

1. Click on the field to open its settings
2. Go to the Advanced section
3. Turn on Auto fill field to today by default when empty.

This feature is enabled by default for any date fields that are newly added to an extension. You may still need to turn it on for existing fields.
