The 'Calculate Attachment Sizes' automation scans your records and calculates the total size of all attachments. This helps you monitor storage usage and identify large files directly in Airtable.
Setup
In Airtable, create an editable Number field for the result. The automation calculates one total per record across the attachment fields you select.
Create the Calculate Attachments Sizes automation and select your Airtable base and table.
Under Attachment Fields, select one or more attachment fields to include. Choose your number field as Calculated Size Field.
Choose Size Format: KB, MB or GB. The default is MB. Results are rounded to two decimal places, so choose a smaller unit if small files appear as zero.
Review Processing Behavior if the result field already contains values.
Limit the run to a view with one or two sample records, then run the automation. Check the total and unit before processing the rest.
The result is a snapshot from the last run, not a live Airtable formula. If attachments change, run the automation again and allow the old result to be updated.
