How to generate Barcodes for Airtable Records

Our 'Generate Barcodes for Records' automation can be used to generate different types of barcodes for your records in bulk!

Setup

  1. Prepare a field containing the value to encode and an attachment field for the generated barcode images.

  2. Create this automation and select the Airtable base and table you want to use.

  3. Choose the source as Data Field and the output as Barcode Attachments Field.

  4. Choose Barcode Type to match your barcode reader and the values you want to encode. Different barcode types accept different data, so test with the actual scanner you will use.

  5. Review Processing Behavior if the output field already contains values. Only choose to overwrite data you intend to replace.

  6. In Run, limit processing to a view containing one or two test records. Run the automation and scan the generated barcode and compare the scanned value with the source field before processing more records.

If generation fails, check the selected barcode type and source values using the barcode troubleshooting guide.
