You can disable editing based on certain conditions so that users can access their records, but not be able to edit a record when it “expires” for example. Or prevent portal users from editing the records that are “approved” already. You'll need to go to:

3. Views section

How can I hide the edit button conditionally? I'd like portal users to still be able to view the records but not edit them.
