How to copy Records in bulk

You can use our 'Auto Copy Records in bulk' automation to generate a set number of copies of certain records.

Setup

  1. In Airtable, add an editable Number field for the number of copies you want to create for each record. Enter a small whole number, such as 1, on a test record.

  2. Create this automation and select the Airtable base and table you want to use.

  3. Select that number field under Number of Copies Field.

  4. In Run, select a filtered view containing only the test record, then run the automation.

  5. Check the new records in the same table. The automation sets the copy-count field to 0 on the original and the new copies after successful processing. Blank or non-positive copy counts are skipped.

  6. Once the result is correct, enter copy counts for the other records you want to duplicate and expand the selected view.

This creates new records, rather than copying a value between fields. Formula, lookup and other computed fields are not copied as editable values; Airtable calculates them for each new record.
