How to integrate Airtable with Cloudinary

The 'Cloudinary Image Editing' automation lets you automatically sync your Airtable attachments with Cloudinary. This makes it easy to manage, optimize, and deliver media files using Cloudinary’s tools while keeping Airtable as your source of truth.

⚠️ Note: If your Cloudinary transformation URL doesn’t work properly, check the prefix. Try removing cld- so the URL ends with sample.jpg.

Setup

  1. Prepare an attachment field containing your source images and a separate attachment field for the processed images.

  2. Create this automation and select the Airtable base and table you want to use.

  3. In the Cloudinary section, enter your Cloudinary Cloud Name, Cloudinary API Key and Cloudinary API Secret from your Cloudinary account.

  4. Create the transformation you want in Cloudinary, then enter its sample URL as Cloudinary Transformation Sample URL. Follow the sample-URL format guide; that guide uses sample.png. The automation also accepts sample.jpg; do not leave a cld- prefix on the sample filename.

  5. In Setup, choose Original Images Field and Processed Images Field.

  6. Review Processing Behavior if the output field already contains values. Only choose to overwrite data you intend to replace.

  7. In Run, limit processing to a view containing one or two test records. Run the automation and check that the transformation produces the intended result before processing more records.
